Longhorn in Rose
A visit to the Clifford E. Lee Nature Sanctuary last week found the wild rose, Rosa acicularis, blooming with abandon in the part-shaded areas of the woods. They are great bug attractors, with a single bloom often containing 3 or 4 species of invertebrates. This is Gramoptera subargentata, of the Family Cerambycidae, the long-horned beetles. (Thanks to Terry Thormin for the ID.)
